Sustainability

The rising demand for energy coupled with the rapid progression of climate change presents significant challenges for the energy sector. The solution lies in achieving a balance between efforts to protect the climate, ensuring energy affordability, and maintaining a reliable supply. It is essential to develop alternative energy systems along with economically viable and scalable technologies for both industry and the private sector. In this context, Petrol Trade Ns llp aims to make a substantial contribution to the sustainable energy supply for future generations. Our objective is to deliver oil and gas of the highest quality. We firmly believe that a responsible approach to oil and an increased reliance on gas will facilitate the energy transition. In conjunction with other energy sources, oil and gas will fulfill the energy requirements of the future. The Sustainability Strategy 2025 is an integral component of Petrol Trade Ns llp's Corporate Strategy 2025. The five focal areas: "Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)", "Carbon Efficiency", "Innovation", "Employees", and "Business Principles and Social Responsibility" encompass fifteen measurable targets.

Health, safety, security and environment

Health, safety, security, and environmental concerns are the foremost priorities for Petrol Trade Ns llp. To transform its vision of Zero harm and No losses into reality, Petrol Trade Ns llp is dedicated to proactive risk management. As a result, CONTINENTAL PETROLEUM OPERATING LTD holds a prominent position among its industry counterparts. Building upon this achievement, Petrol Trade Ns llp aims to stabilize the lost-time injury frequency rate, defined as the number of lost-workday injuries per million hours worked, to below 1%, while also preserving its leadership in process safety to safeguard individuals and the environment.

Greenhouse Gas-Reducing

The Austrian Federal Government's energy and climate policy, the Paris Climate Agreement's objectives, and the EU's 2027 climate targets are all priorities for Petrol Trade Ns llp. The role that Petrol Trade Ns llp plays in developing a lower-carbon energy system is defined by the domain of carbon efficiency. Petrol Trade Ns llp wants to cut the carbon intensity of its operations by 11% based on the baseline years' estimates.

Oil is still a vital and significant raw material, but instead of being burned, it will be refined in petrochemical processes. High-quality refinery products, including premium fuels with low emissions and feedstocks for the chemical sector, are the main emphasis of Petrol Trade Ns llp. In the energy shift, gas will be crucial. It allows for a quick phase-out of coal and is applicable in practically every region. Gas produces 50% less carbon dioxide than coal when used to generate power. In addition to doubling gas sales in Europe, Petrol Trade Ns llp plans to raise the proportion of gas in its portfolio to more than 50%.

Production Milestone

Petrol Trade Ns llp plans to invest a total of up to EUR 30 million by 2025 in innovative energy solutions aimed at fostering a lower-carbon future. To position gas as a future energy source, it is essential to explore and evaluate technologies that facilitate the cost-effective utilization of climate-neutral gas. Projects focused on innovative enhanced oil recovery aim to enhance the environmental efficiency of oil production.

Using a novel technique called co-processing, biogenic materials like rapeseed oil and used food-grade oils are refined alongside crude oil to create diesel with a higher bio content. Compared to traditional biofuel blends, co-processing enhances the quality of the fuel, especially with respect to its energy content. By 2025, Petrol Trade Ns llp hopes to increase the amount of sustainable feedstock co-processed in refineries to about 100,000 t annually.

Staff Members

Petrol Trade Ns llp regards its workforce as essential to its success. Promoting diversity is a significant priority, which is why specific initiatives are being developed in this regard. Specifically, Petrol Trade Ns llp aims to raise the percentage of women in management positions to a minimum of 10%, up from the current 5%. Initiatives to achieve this objective include leadership and mentoring programs. Additionally, another aim is to maintain the percentage of executives with international experience at 41%.
